Birthday Spa Party Recipes

Vanilla Sugar Scrub Recipe
Ingredients

·         1 ½ cups of Sugar

·         1/3 cup Coconut Oil

·         2 drops Peppermint Extract

·         1 drop Vanilla Extract

·         2 drops Green Food Coloring (optional)

In a medium to large bowl add the sugar.  In a microwave safe bowl, add the coconut oil and microwave at 30 second intervals until it is melted.  This can also be done in a pan on the stovetop over medium heat.  Once the coconut oil is melted, add it to the sugar along with the peppermint and vanilla extract.  As well as the green food coloring, if desired.  Stir well to combine.  Making sure all of the sugar is coated with oil.  The mixture will be lumpy, but the sugar shouldn’t be dry.  Add to a clean glass jar with a lid to store.  To use, while in the shower, scoop some of the sugar scrub into your hand and run on the skin.  Rinse off with water.  Use caution when using the sugar scrub in the shower as it can make the tub or shower floor slippery.  Making it easier to fall in the shower or tub.

Imbolc Inspiration

Hail, Brighid, on this Imbolc Night!

Tonight at our Imbolc ritual/potluck my dear Miss Jean had an inspiration, a Pagan Good Housekeeping.. a.k.a Good Hearth Keeping.  And thus this blog is born.  She deserves all the credit for it's beginnings and I hope it becomes something she can be proud of.

I am a domestic witch so most of my spells and such are done in the kitchen and usually done with normal everyday items around the house.  I hope to post at least once a week about "good hearth keeping," whether that be a witchy recipe, an herbal, or just a new homemade cleaner that also adds protection to the home.

If you have something you would like to see featured, drop me an email or make a comment and let me know.  If I do not know anything, I will do some research and see what I can come up with.  I love research!

To start us out on this Imbolc Night I will offer up a recipe I developed today for our ritual tonight.  I thought since everyone else was bringing food for the potluck (that is at least 10 dishes) I would bring potpourri for everyone to take home.  Going to my herb cabinet, I looked at what I had and went from there.  This is what came out of it...

Brighid's Potpourri
3 ounces rose buds
2 ounces chamomile flowers
1 ounce each lemon verbena, lemon balm, and catmint
8 crushed bay leaves
1 tablespoon each crushed cinnamon sticks and orange peel
2 teaspoons each cloves and allspice, crushed
3 tablespoons orris root powder
1 teaspoon rose water

***To crush the herbs, place them in a ziplock bag and place in a kitchen towel, then crush with a small hammer or meat mallet.***

WARNING:  This recipe makes a LOT of potpourri, roughly 40 to 45 cups.  If you do not want that much, just scale the recipe down.  But as yummy and soothing as this scent is, you might end up wanting it in every room, not just on your altar.
